July 2008: Discover Saved Me $19.27
Even though I saved about $20 this month using my Discover Credit Card, I think any savings were diminished by the jump in inflation. Can you say ouch?
Pinch me again. Ouch! Everything seems to be going higher and higher and even with a conscience decision to cut back on spending, we still managed to spend over $2000 last month; hence the 1% cash back savings of $20 from Discover.
I managed to run out of cash one week and was force to charge $8.12 for my lunch at Presto Pasta. That never happened before.
I have to be fair since we did have an emergency and took our Dachshund to an emergency clinic when her eye was all infected. Too bad we didn't have pet insurance to cover the cost.
July 2008 Charge Expenses
For this month, we managed to charge:
Merchandise: $350
Services: $600 ($590 in Vet bills)
Gas: $292
Groceries: $895
I'm fairly certain that our gasoline expense would have been a lot higher if we did our normal summer and daily driving, but we cut back on both. A little walking really did wonders on our pocket book gas consumption.
There's very little we could do about groceries since we do have to eat. Perhaps some of the increase in cost was due to eating out less but going over my statement, it seems that some of our grocery charges were approaching $200 when they normally are around $150.
Things are getting expensive so make sure you pay off you short-term debt every month and start saving more cause it's cool to be frugal.
